With over 14 years of corporate development experience, Matt specializes in buy-side M&A and helps clients navigate complex acquisitions.

Matt's role at Schwartz Heslin Group (SHG) is centered on the critical early stages of a successful acquisition strategy. From front-end research, outreach, and qualification, he works with clients to:

  • Execute professional outreach, cutting through generic buy-side noise to engage key decision-makers.
  • Vet and qualify opportunities, ensuring clients connect with serious, high-value acquisition prospects.

Beyond the Office: A Life Rooted in Family and Service

Matt is deeply committed to his family, faith, and community outside of work. He has been married to Christine Roos Montague, a cellular physiologist researching tuberculosis treatments at Cornell University for 32 years. Together, they share a love of traveling, cooking, and hiking with their three adult daughters.


Community service is a central part of Matt's life. He teaches religious education, chairs his pastoral council, and volunteers weekly at Loaves and Fishes in Ithaca, a nonprofit providing meals to those in need.



Hobbies & Passions

When he's not advising on deals or giving back to his community, Matt enjoys fly fishing, sailing, and tackling home improvement projects. He appreciates history and spends time reading whenever he can. He also plays guitar in what he describes as a "pretty bad dad band." Born and raised in Buffalo, he's been a dedicated Bills fan since birth, staying loyal through every season's ups and downs.
